IBCFPRS AND EBCFPRS ANNOUNCEMENT
The International Board for Certification in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (IBCFPRS) and the European Board for Certification in Facial Plastic Surgery (EBCFPRS) are pleased to announce that:
Oral Maxillo Facial Surgeons are now eligible to apply for IBCFPRS or EBCFPRS certification if they meet the following eligibility requirements:
*The surgeon has achieved a Doctor of Medicine degree from a Doctor of Medicine Training Program and the degree conferred is a Doctor of Medicine, MD, MBBS, or equivalent degree indicative of eligibility to become licensed to practice Medicine.
*The surgeon has completed a Recognized and Accredited Training Program in
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Degree or Certification conferred by the OMFS or MaxFax training program would be considered comparable to a degree or title conferred by a similar training program in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS) or Plastic Surgery (PS).
*Other requirements to sit for the examination and become certified would be the same as current IBCFPRS or EBCFPRS requirements for certification eligibility for OHNS and PS.

The International Board for Certification in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (IBCFPRS) and the European Board for Certification in Facial Plastic Surgery (EBCFPRS) believe that by including other specialties and other FPRS specialists, we encourage interdisciplinary collaboration to the benefit of all our specialties and our patients. Qualified OMFS surgeons who complete IBCFPRS certification requirements are then eligible to be double boarded by the IBCFPRS as well as the EBCFPRS.
The IBCFPRS and EBCFPRS are committed to maintaining the highest standards of examination and certification in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. This “Gold Standard” certification identifies diplomates who have demonstrated excellence, and advances the public interest.
