International Board for Certification in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
The International Board for Certification in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (formerly known as the program for Unified International Certification in Facial Plastic Surgery/UIC in FPS sponsored by the International Federation for Facial Plastic Surgery Societies/IFFPSS) was established in 2012. Its mission is to improve the quality of facial plastic surgery available to the public by measuring the qualifications of candidate surgeons against certain rigorous standards.
Among the core endeavors of the IBCFPRS is the administration of the International Board exam in facial plastic surgery. This is performed in collaboration with the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This two-day examination is held annually in Washington, D.C., and consists of a written multiple-choice exam on the first day and an oral exam on the second day.
